Practical Exams 2026: Scheme of Evaluation and Timeline
For Science and specialized Arts/Commerce subjects, the 2nd PUC Practical Examinations are just as critical as the theory papers. These exams provide a significant chunk of your total marks and are the first step in the 2026 board cycle.
Timeline for Practicals
As per the KSEAB notification, practical examinations are scheduled to be held between January 27, 2026, and mid-February.
Note: The exact date for your specific subject and batch varies from college to college. Most institutions will display their internal practical timetable on their notice boards by mid-January.
Scheme of Evaluation
The KSEAB has released a detailed “Scheme of Evaluation” for 2026 to ensure uniformity across centers.
Typical 30-Mark Breakdown (Science Subjects):
- Written Record: 5 Marks
- Viva-Voce: 5 Marks
- Experiment Performance: 15-20 Marks (Objective, Procedure, Observations, and Results)
Preparation Checklist
- Record Books: Ensure your Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Computer Science records are complete, certified, and signed by the HOD.
- Viva Prep: Be ready to answer questions related to the principle of the experiment and basic theory from those chapters.
- Mock Practicals: Most colleges conduct mock sessions in early January. Don’t skip them—they are your best chance to identify mistakes in titrations or circuit connections.
Reporting to the Center
Students must report to their respective college laboratories at least 30 minutes before their allotted batch time. Remember to carry your Hall Ticket (if issued) and your Lab Coat/Apron.
Good luck with your experiments!
