StepVista Tools
What is the KCET Rank Predictor?
Our KCET Rank Predictor uses the official 50:50 composite score formula (50% Board Marks + 50% KCET Score) to estimate your rank. It shows how your 2nd PUC marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Math combine with your KCET score to determine your final rank.
How accurate is the College Predictor?
The College Predictor analyzes previous year cutoff ranks (KCET 2025 Round 2 and COMEDK 2025 Round 4) to show which colleges you can target. While cutoffs vary yearly, our predictions are based on the most recent official data and provide a reliable baseline for counseling.
How does the College Comparison tool work?
Select up to 4 colleges from our directory and compare them side-by-side on fees (KCET/COMEDK/Management quota), placements (CSE/ISE average packages), cutoffs, campus facilities, and accreditation. Perfect for shortlisting during counseling.
Are placement statistics verified?
Yes. We source placement data from official college placement reports, NIRF submissions, and verified LinkedIn data for the 2024-2025 academic year. We clearly mention the source and year for each statistic.
How often are cutoffs updated?
We update cutoffs immediately after each KEA/COMEDK counseling round. Currently, we have KCET 2025 Round 2 and COMEDK 2025 Round 4 data. Subscribe to our blog for instant notifications when new cutoffs are released.
Entrance Exams
What is KCET?
KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance examination conducted by KEA for admission to Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy, and other professional courses in Karnataka colleges. It uses a 50:50 weightage of Board Marks and KCET exam score.
What is the KCET eligibility criteria?
For Engineering: Minimum 45% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in 2nd PUC/12th (40% for SC/ST/OBC). You must pass all three subjects with at least 35 marks each. Karnataka domicile is required for state quota seats.
How to apply for KCET?
Applications open in March/April on the official KEA website (kea.kar.nic.in). The process involves online registration, uploading documents (Aadhaar, caste certificate if applicable, income certificate), and paying the application fee (₹500 for General, ₹250 for SC/ST/Cat-1).
What is COMEDK?
COMEDK UGET (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka - Under Graduate Entrance Test) is conducted for admission to private unaided engineering colleges in Karnataka. Unlike KCET, it does not consider board marks—only the COMEDK exam score.
KCET vs COMEDK: Which is better?
KCET covers both government and private colleges with lower fees (₹50K-1L for govt colleges). COMEDK is only for private colleges with higher fees (₹2-4L). If you have good board marks, KCET benefits you due to the 50:50 formula. COMEDK is purely exam-based.
What is NEET?
NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is the national-level entrance exam for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses across India. It’s conducted by NTA and is mandatory for admission to all medical colleges, including government and private institutions.
Admissions & Counseling
When does KCET counseling start?
KCET counseling typically begins in July/August after results are declared. KEA conducts multiple rounds (usually 3-4 rounds) of seat allotment. Mock allotments help you understand cutoff trends before the actual process.
What documents are needed for KCET counseling?
Essential documents: KCET Hall Ticket, Rank Card, 10th & 12th/2nd PUC Marks Cards, Transfer Certificate, Conduct Certificate, Caste Certificate (if applicable), Income Certificate (for fee concessions), Aadhaar Card, and passport-size photographs.
Can I get admission through Management Quota?
Yes. Most private colleges offer Management Quota seats with higher fees (₹3-6L per year). These don’t require KCET/COMEDK ranks but may have a minimum eligibility score. Contact colleges directly or check their official websites for Management Quota details.
What is the difference between Government and Aided colleges?
Government colleges: Fully funded by the state, lowest fees (₹50K-1L/year), highest competition, best ROI.
Aided colleges: Partially government-funded, moderate fees (₹1-2L/year), good infrastructure.
Unaided/Private colleges: No government funding, higher fees (₹2-4L/year), more seats available.
